THE PARTNERS

Scientists who became capital allocators.

The Galdera team is not a group of investors who learned the biology. Every partner has worked inside the scientific enterprise — as clinical investigators, as heads of discovery programs, as R&D leaders at major pharmaceutical companies. This is the primary differentiation we offer our portfolio: a partner who has run the kind of program you are trying to build.

Dr. Ananya Rao

Managing Partner

Dr. Ananya Rao is the Managing Partner of Galdera Labs Capital, which she founded in 2017 following eight years operating inside the life sciences industry. She holds an MD-PhD from Stanford University, where her doctoral research focused on molecular biology and tumor immunology. After completing her clinical training, she joined the Salk Institute as a clinical investigator, running early-stage translational studies at the interface of cancer biology and immune system modulation. She subsequently joined a large biotech as Senior Director, leading Phase II oncology programs from target nomination through clinical protocol design.

After a decade on the operating side, Dr. Rao joined a life-sciences investment firm as Principal in 2014, where she led a series of Seed and Series A investments in computational biology and oncology platforms. She founded Galdera in 2017 with the conviction that the life sciences capital market underweights bench-science judgment in discovery-stage evaluation. She leads Galdera's investment practice across machine-learning drug discovery, cell-state therapeutics, and genomic engineering.

Dr. Emanuel Voss

Partner — joined 2019

Dr. Emanuel Voss is a Partner at Galdera Labs Capital, joining the firm in 2019 after twelve years leading drug discovery programs at major pharmaceutical organizations. He holds a PhD in Chemistry from the University of Cambridge and began his career in medicinal chemistry and structural biology before moving into R&D program leadership. As Vice President of Discovery at a top-15 pharmaceutical company, he led portfolio decisions in immunology and rare disease, managing teams of bench scientists and directing early clinical strategy for multiple clinical-stage assets.

Dr. Voss joined Galdera with deep conviction that small-molecule AI platforms and targeted protein degradation represented the next generation of medicinal chemistry — areas where computational tools could unlock target classes that traditional chemistry could not reach. At Galdera, he leads investments in AI-designed small-molecule drugs, targeted protein degradation, and synthetic biology platforms.

Lin Chen, CFA

Partner & CFO — joined 2020

Lin Chen is a Partner and Chief Financial Officer at Galdera Labs Capital, joining the firm in 2020 to lead the close of Galdera Fund II and to establish the firm's portfolio capital strategy function. She holds an MBA from the Wharton School and a BA from the University of Pennsylvania, and spent sixteen years across healthcare investment banking and life-sciences private equity before joining Galdera. In investment banking, she focused on biotech and specialty pharma transactions including IPOs, follow-on equity raises, and strategic M&A.

She subsequently moved to a leading healthcare-focused private equity firm, where she served as Director running mid-stage biotech investments across oncology, rare disease, and diagnostics. Lin brings to Galdera the financial architecture skills — fund modeling, LP reporting, portfolio company capital planning, and co-investment coordination — that allow the scientific partners to focus on investment evaluation and portfolio engagement. She oversees all aspects of fund finance, investor relations, and capital allocation strategy.
